2012: A Year of Purposeful Living
Let's anticipate an exciting year as we serve God and serve the people of our community with love. A lot is going on at First Baptist Church and we invite you to join us this year! Take time to pray and plan for how and where you can serve this year. Let's put some purpose to our plans.
The church officewas closed December 23, 2011 through January 2, 2012. During this time, Pastor Turner became a father for the third time. Be sure to reach out to Emily as she recovers.
Wednesday night activities resumed on January 11th. Wednesday suppers and choir resumed at 6:00; Children in Action and nursery care resumed at 7:00 pm. The youth meet at 7:00 to study Frances Chan's dvd-led "Surrender." We have two adult Bible Studies offered for first semester 2012. Francis Yon will resume the study of the book of Matthew. Pastor Turner will lead a study on the Old Testament using Bill Jones' book "Putting Together the Pieces of the Puzzle."
Sunday School class teachers met Thursday, January 5th at 7:00 pm to discuss the new curriculum and training for teachers. We are getting a lot of good feedback about the new Sunday School materials. Please let us know what you think.
We will have a guest speaker from the Baptist Foundation to address the entire church body on Wednesday, January 18th, 7:00 pm. You won't want to miss this.
We encourage committee members to get a fresh perspective on your commitment. Please be dedicated to attend your meetings and pray about the direction your committee should go this year. It is very important that the chair person of each committee attend our quarterly Church Council meetings. These meetings provide unity among our committees to direct our church forward with all of us working together.
It's going to be a great year!
